We often hear the sound sensitivity, sound frequency response, sound pointing characteristics and so on nouns. What does it all mean? Today Shijiazhuang professional audio shows you what sound nouns mean.

1. Sensitivity

Sensitivity is an important indicator of the acoustic-to-electrical conversion efficiency of a microphone. It is defined as: in the free sound field, the microphone frequency is 1KHz constant sound pressure and the sound source forward (that is, the sound incident angle is zero) when the measured open-circuit output voltage. The unit is millivolts/Pa. 1Pa = 10bar 1ubar is roughly equivalent to a person's normal speaking volume, and the sound pressure measured at a distance of 1m.

The sensitivity of the moving coil type is about 1.5~4 mV/Pa, while the capacitive sensitivity is about 10 times higher than that of the moving coil type, about 20 mV/Pa.

Microphone sensitivity is also useful decibels (db), the provisions of 1 volt, Pa for 0db. Since the sensitivity is much smaller than 1V/Pa, the sensitivity expressed is one db.

Microphone sensitivity is a good thing, it can provide a higher input level to the mixer, can improve the signal-to-noise ratio, but too high its output voltage is also high, prone to excessive distortion.
When used for karaoke singing, the microphone is very close to the mouth, so the requirement for sensitivity is not high.

2. Frequency response
It is an important indicator to reflect the frequency distortion in the process of microphone electrical conversion. The ratio of the open circuit output voltage of each frequency acoustic wave signal to the open circuit output voltage of the specified frequency microphone is called the frequency response of the microphone, expressed in decibels. General professional microphone frequency response curve tolerance range in 2db. A simplified expression of the frequency response is the range of frequencies in Hz and the range of non-uniformities in decibels at the same time. The microphone is used in different occasions, and the frequency response range and unevenness range are also different.
The dynamic microphone often does not take a flat frequency response curve, and in the high frequency band (3~5KHz) slightly improved, which can increase the brightness and clarity of the pickup. Generally, when used at a very close distance from the sound source, there will be a low-frequency boost phenomenon called "close talk effect", so it is best to have obvious attenuation in the low frequency band below 150Hz.

3. Pointing characteristics
The characteristic that the sensitivity of the microphone changes with the incident direction of the sound wave is called directivity. Commonly used to point to the graph.
Common directivity is omnidirectional (no pointing), heart-shaped, super-heart-shaped, sharp-heart-shaped, 8-shaped (two-way) and so on.
a. undirected
This characteristic has the same sensitivity to the sound wave incident in all 360o directions.
B. Heart-shaped
This characteristic is effective for sound wave incidence in the front direction 180o, and the back sound is suppressed.
c. sharp heart type
This characteristic front 110o incident angle, the best suppression of acoustic feedback.

4. Output impedance
Refers to the AC internal resistance of the microphone, measured at a frequency of 1KHz and a sound pressure of 1Pa. Often divided into low impedance, high impedance. Generally, 1K or less is a low impedance, and more than 1K is a high impedance. The sensitivity of high impedance microphone has been improved, but it is easy to induce external interference such as AC sound, and the cable should not be long. Stage performances and other professional use are basically low impedance should not cause interference, the cable can also be longer.

5. Dynamic Range
It refers to the electrical frequency difference between the minimum useful signal and the maximum undistorted signal output by the microphone. The small dynamic range will cause sound distortion and deterioration of sound quality. Therefore, a sufficiently large dynamic range is required. Since the microphone is used to transmit the fidelity of human voice and is an important equipment at the forefront of audio equipment, the sound quality depends on the formal manufacturer, famous brand and correct selection of the microphone, which has a great relationship.

To sum up, professional audio companies still need to choose reliable companies to purchase. Bell Wisdom Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. mainly provides design and installation, sales and technical services for large theaters, stadiums (halls), sports and sports (culture and art) centers, sound reinforcement and lighting equipment, campus broadcasting systems, stage machinery curtain systems, stage lighting systems, conference systems, queuing management systems, acoustic design, and computer network system integration, remote video conferencing, security monitoring systems and other engineering projects. If there is a need to welcome the call.
