Unbalanced is also called single-ended input or single-ended output. A signal terminal and a reference terminal (ground).

Balance is also called double-ended input or double-ended output. One of the two signal terminals is in reverse direction to the other. There is also "ground" in the electron balance ".

There are two types of balanced circuits:

1, transformer balance: it is the true sense of the balance. Its disadvantage is that the balance transformer is expensive, and the frequency response is difficult to be straight.

2. Electronic balance: balance made with electronic circuits. Its common-touch rejection ratio is generally not higher than the supply voltage of the integrated circuit (about plus or minus 15 volts). The input and output are not isolated, and AC sound may be caused by repeated grounding. When the output is connected to unbalanced output, the reverse output must be suspended and not grounded, and the gain is reduced by 6dB. When the unbalanced input is connected, the reverse input terminal must be grounded and not suspended. Its advantage is low cost, frequency response is easy to do straight.

Although transformer balancing has many advantages, it is rarely used because of its high cost (frequency response flat transformer). At present, most of the mixer and amplifier we use are "electronic balance".
